Exporting historical data fromMetaTrader platform to Metastock

Historical data

It is possible to export historical transaction data to the MetaStock program. To do this:-

open Tools/History Center;
in section Securities you can find data corresponding to already opened charts;
double clicking on a chosen security let you see data in the lower section of the window in a text format;
Export option saves data from the selected market to a file format. To convert it for MetaStock program it should be saved on a disk as *.prn format;
transfer of *.prn file to MetaStocka can be achieved by using The Downloaderprogram, which is included with the MetaStock program.

Real-Time Data

In order to take data from MetaTrader 4.0 to MetaStock in real-time you should:

download and install auxiliary software, for example: MetaServer RT ;
in MetaTrader 4.0 in Tools/Options section choose Allow DDE. Application should remain active.

Configuration of MetaServer RT

after starting MetaServer RT press “+” or right click and select Add Symbol;
in Symbol Configuration Tab in position “symbol” you should type chosen market, for example GBPUSD;
in section Collection template select Forex;
in DDE Information select Direct link;
in DDE Server type “MT4”;
in Add link window choose one of the option Bid or Ask, in DDE Topic window there are the following options:- High/Low/Bid/Ask, in DDE Item type the symbol of the market;
additionally, you can select Data option: Calculate Trade price as: (Ask+Bid)/2. Choosing this option allows you to display in MetaStock identical data as in X-Trade charts;
after finishing the operation click OK;
current configuration of MetaServer RT can be saved in File/Save As;
program will begin taking data after pressing green triangle icon or Data Collection/Start Data Collection.

Configuration of MetaStock

install MetaStock from installation disk, in window Select Real-time Vendorselect Signal(Broadcast Version);
after installing, select from group Equis International - Equis Real-Time Configuration and run it;
in Data Options, Replace vendor-supplied times with computer system time andAdjust a record time (hours) should be unmarked;
run The Downloader and select File/New/Security;
in New Security in Name section type chosen instrument, for example GBPUSD
press OK to confirm changes
